Social service system in Anyksciai district municipality

The population of Anyksciai district municipality, savivaldybe, was 32137; out of which 19112 were village residents In 2008. The characteristic feature of Anyksciai district municipality is its high number of retired people, while disabled constitute 9.3% of all district’s residents. There were 8756 retired persons, 2991 disabled person, out of which 139 children, in municipality in 2008. There were 154 socially at risk families raising 381 children.

Social services in Anyksciai district municipality are implemented by the means of subsidies, social assistance and social integration of disabled.

Social services for the district residents are organized, coordinated and provided by the administration of Anyksciai district Social Services Department.

Currently allowances of more than thirty types are granted for various social groups. These allowances are classified into types, such as: seven types of allowances for the families raising kids, eight types of subsidies, eleven types of grants, four types of various benefits, one-time allowance.
Social services in the district are provided for the disabled, elderly residents, children who lost their parents’ guardianship, and other residents of the district. In the development of social services in the district priorities are given for day care social services for the elderly, the disabled and at risk families and the children within them.

Social services and disabled social integration programs for the district residents are provided and implemented by the state and local governments, non-government organizations and other institutions.

There are local and county social service institutions functioning within the territory of municipality, such as: district of Anyksciai Social Service Center, Svedasai elderly nursing home, St. Martin family home, family home of N.Tubiene, Aknystos pensionatas (type of school for disadvantaged and disabled kids), Auleliai children’s guardianship home.

The most active non-government day care facilities providing social services for the district residents and implementing social integration of the disabled programs are those: Anyksciai Children and Youth  Day Center, Anyksciai Women’s Information and Activity Center, Anyksciai Community Center, Raguvele Children’s Day Care Center, Anyksciai Welfare Society for  People with Intellectual Disability “Anyksciai Hope”(lt. Anyksciai Viltis”), Anyksciai district Society for the Physically Disabled, Anyksciai district Mentally Disabled Guardianship Society (branch of Anyksciai Mental Health Center). Anyksciai district Day Care Center for the Visually Impaired, Diabetes Club “Future” (lt. “Ateitis”).
