Educational background of the residents 20 to 54 years of age of the district of Anyksciai was like this: 2461 district residents had basic education, 310 elementary, 20 had no elementary education.
District’s educational system is being developed in accord with the state and municipal educational politics and the residents training needs.
In 2008-2009 in the district according to the developmental program there were:
- 12 secondary schools among them:
- 3 gymnasiums: Anyksciai Jonas Biliunas, Antanas Vienuolis, Svėdasai Juozas Tumas-Vaižgantas
- 3 secondary schools: Anyksciai Antanas Baranauskas, Kavarskas, Troskunai Kazys Inciura
- 6 basic schools: Debeikiai, Kurkliai Steponas Kairys, Raguvele, Skiemonys, Traupis, Viesintos
- Anyksciai Developmental Center for the Mentally Disabled Children and Youth
- at A. Baranauskas secondary school (24 special needs kids)
- Adult education classes at A. Baranauskas school (the 11th and the 12th grades)
Besides, adults may gain elementary, basic or secondary education at any district’s school
implementing a special program independently, on their own.
The total number of students in the secondary schools in 2008-2009 school year was 4271,
out of which 221 were first graders.
3 informal developmental institutions are functioning:
- Anyksciai School of Music (309 students )
- School of Creation and Art (187 students)
- Center of the Physical Culture and Sports (508 students)
Pre-school education and other pre-school development:
In the city of Anyksciai there are 4 nurseries-kindergartens with 369 children, and
6 pre-school development centers in villages of Burbiskis, Debeikiai, Kavarskas, Troskunai,
Kurkliai and Svedasai with 90 children, and three-hour pre-school group in Traupis. Total of 165 children are being educated in pre-school centers.
There are student and school support institutions functioning as well, such as:
- Anyksciai Center of Education, the main goal of which is continued education or raising the qualification of the pedagogical workers and, in rare cases, of the others;
- Pedagogical Psychological Service which evaluates school maturity of the children and students,
- counsels students, parents, teachers on psychological and pedagogical issues;
- Anyksciai Center of Education which was accredited as fitting the requirements for
- the centers of education for five years in 2008.
